Greetings. I’m Tim of Govberg and welcome to the world of Jaeger-LeCoultre. Today I will be your guide to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Rendez-Vous Night & Day. Twenty-nine millimeters in 18-carat pink gold. This automatic winding timepiece is graced by a bezel set with 60 brilliant cut gems surrounding a dial of silver sun ray guilloché. The watch is born on a sophisticated rectangular scale alligator leather strap matched with a beautifully warm double-deploy-ant 18-carat pink-gold clasp. All of high polish inside and out, it speaks to the degree of attention to detail lavished on every single square millimeter of this timepiece.

The strap itself features pull tab quick releases on the underside of the lugs, such that it can be easily removed for cleaning without resort to a jeweler’s tool or a jeweler. The 29 millimeter case features the spectacular set bezel and complex lugs featuring rounded barrel-shaped outer shoulders and inner strong character lines, giving way to a strong belt line that lends definition to the case flanks. The dial itself, inboard of the gem-set bezel, features sophisticated guilloché generated by a rose lathe, it operates on two planes. The upper hour track, featuring transferred floral style arabic numerals and the inner dial featuring seconds and minute indices.

At 6 o’clock, and AM/PM index features either a sun superimposed over a light background in relief or appropriately, the moon and the stars for night. This AM/PM night-day distinction is part of the poetic logic of this watch alternately romantic and thanks to the Jaeger-LeCoultre manufacture caliber 967 automatic mechanical sophistication. The watch is an automatic winding timepiece featuring an in house, free-sprung, 38 hour night and day movement, executed entirely within the manufacture. It features both the stability of a free-sprung balance, which has no mobile index that can be displaced by shock, and ceramic bearings on the rotor which ensure that the rotor itself is sealed for life and operates with a long-wearing durability throughout the life of the timepiece.
